GENERAL INFORMATION
Admission Procedures
Students, staff, faculty, and alumni of KSU must possess a current validated ID card to be admitted to the Student Recreation & Wellness Center.
Entry Lobby
The main entrance provides direct access to areas within the “Free Zone”. The Free Zone does not require an ID to access. The Front Desk, two lobbies, restrooms, the Intramural & Recreation Services Office, and the Wellness Center are within the Free Zone. The Equipment Checkout Desk, Circuit Training Room, Wellness Seminar Room, and room 124 may be accessed from the Free Zone; however, a valid ID may be required to utilize the areas depending on the programs being offered.
Guest Information
Guests of KSU students, staff, faculty, and alumni members are permitted to utilize the Center. Each host is responsible for his or her guest and must be with the guest at all times. There is a two guest maximum per member per day. Every guest is to present a picture ID and sign a guest pass. Guests must be at least 16 years old to utilize the Center. Guests are not permitted to participate in Group Exercise classes, Intramural Sports, or Nature Bound Programs. There is a guest fee of $5.00 per day.
Health, Injuries, and Insurance
The Student Recreation & Wellness Center and its staff assume no responsibility for injuries received by any person while participating or contributing in any sponsored programs, events, or services. Participants are reminded that their participation in all facets of the program is on a voluntary basis and must be within their personal health status. Each activity has a certain degree of injury risk. It is recommended that all participants have a medical examination before participation and carry their own appropriate insurance coverage.
Locker Locations
Lockers are available for use free of charge to users of the facility. Lockers are located in the men & women’s locker rooms and in the corridor across from the strength & conditioning room. Lockers are available on a daily basis only. Participants must supply own lock for the lockers in the locker room. Locks will be cut off if left on the locker at the close of the day. Lockers in the corridor across from the strength & conditioning floor room have self-setting combination locks.
If you are not an authorized user of the Student Recreation & Wellness Center but would like to use a shower and/or locker; there are changing rooms within the Free Zone of the Center located near room 126. Ask the Front Desk staff or the Building Manager for assistance.
Inclement Weather
In case of inclement weather, for example, icy roads, watch a news program for Kennesaw State University closing. If the campus is closed, the facility will be closed and all its programs will be cancelled.
Lost and Found
The Student Recreation & Wellness Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items. You may contact the Center staff to inquire about lost items by calling 770-499-3207.
If you find an item in the Center, you may bring it to the Front Desk. The items will be held for 30 days. Items not claimed within 30 days will be donated to charity or thrown out. KSU ID cards not claimed within 24 hours will be sent to Card Services located on the second floor above the dining area in the Student Center.
The KSU Pool: Information & Updates
General Policies
1. Building Managers have the authority to demand unruly participants to leave if their conduct necessitates such action. Any participant that strikes, threatens, or physically injures a staff member of the Center or other participants will be banned from further participation in any programs sponsored by the Student Recreation & Wellness Center.
2. Exercise at your own risk.
3. A valid ID is required for entry into the facility.
4. All authorized users are required to sign a waiver/release liability form before utilizing the facility. The waiver/release form must be updated each academic year. Waiver/release form renewal will begin the third week in August each year.
5. Appropriate attire is required when utilizing the Student Recreation & Wellness Center. The appropriateness of attire is at the discretion of the Center staff.
6. Hours are subject to change. If feasible, prior notice will be posted in the facility and on the website under “Announcements” on the Welcome page. Center closings dates for the semester are listed on the Hours webpage.
7. Unauthorized independent personal training and/or organized group instruction will not be permitted in the Center.
8. All authorized users are responsible for the conduct of their guest and must remain with their guests.
9. The Student Recreation & Wellness Center and its staff are not responsible for the participant’s personal items. Please take careful precautions to protect your belongings. Lockers are available to store personal belongings during use of the Center.
10. Do not lean, pull, or push on equipment or furniture. Equipment or furniture may not be bolted to the floor.
11. Staff members are not permitted to hold personal items. For safety purposes, all bags, loose clothing, etc. must be stored away and not cluttering the fitness floor. It is recommended that personal belongings be stored in a locker. Participants must supply own lock for the lockers in the locker rooms. Lockers may be used on a daily basis only. Locks will be cut off the locker and personal belongings sent to Lost and Found if a lock is not removed from the locker at the close of the day. Oversized items may be checked in at the Equipment Checkout Desk.
12. Water and sports drinks are permitted on the fitness floors if in a resealable container. No carbonated drinks allowed.
13. Food, carbonated drinks, and tobacco products are not permitted.
14. University policy regarding smoking, alcohol and drug use will be enforced.
15. All patrons must be prepared to exit the facility by the closing hour.
16. Immediately report any injury or facility/equipment irregularity to the appropriate staff member on duty.
17. For safety purposes, cell phones may not be used while working out on any equipment or participating in intramural and recreation programs. Cell phones and cameras are not permitted inside change rooms, locker rooms, or restrooms.
18. No one may take pictures of the Center without permission from the Management staff of the Student Recreation & Wellness Center.
19. Unauthorized bicycles are not permitted in the Center. No Rollerblading, skateboarding, or roller skating is permitted inside the Center. Recreational activity is restricted to designated activity areas. The hallways are not designated activity areas.
20. Posting of all notices and flyers must receive prior approval from the Facility Coordinator located in room 129. Any unauthorized or out-of-date material will be removed.
21. No animals are permitted in the Center. Exception: “Service Animals” as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
22. Discard all trash, debris, and recyclables in the appropriate receptacles provided in the Center.
23. Spitting on floors, walls, or support beams is not allowed.
24. For fitness assessment and basic exercise information, contact the Wellness Center at 770-423-6394 or stop by room 131 in the Student Recreation & Wellness Center
Gymnasium/Open Gym Policy
1. Participate at your own risk.
2. Dunking, hanging on the rim/net or touching the rim is not permitted because of the risk of injury and potential damage to the equipment. Violation of this policy will result in ejection from the Center. Repeated violations may result in suspension from the Center.
3. Profane or indecent language and/or behavior are discouraged. Such actions that are directed at employees or deem offensive to other users will not be tolerated. You may be asked to leave.
4. Only non-marking athletic footwear is permitted on the gymnasium floor. You may be asked to clean up marks from floor.
5. Spitting on floors, walls, or support beams is not allowed.
6. Open play is available at various times during each day depending on the schedules for academic classes, Group Exercise classes and Intramural Sports programs.
7. Equipment set-up and removal is only handled by the Center staff. Ask for assistance if the court equipment needs to be adjusted.
8. Guest must arrive at the Center with the authorized user to be permitted access to the gym. |
