What is Interpersonal Violence?

Interpersonal violence is the use of physical force involving relations between persons, stalking, and communications. Examples of interpersonal violence include: rape, relationship violence involving physical force, stalking, texting that contains obscene material, and online communications that contain serious threats of physical violence.

SEXUAL ASSAULT IS:

any sexual activity that is against another person's will including: rape (attempted rape), sodomy/aggravated sodomy, child molestation, fondling, sexual harassment, indecent exposure, stalking, peeping toms, or sexual battery.

RAPE IS:

an act of violence in which sex is used as a weapon. Rape occurs when a person engages in sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion or with someone who is incapable of consent.

DATE RAPE IS:

Many of these offenses involve the consumption of alcohol or other drugs [such as rohypnol, gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), or ketamin (K)] by one or both parties.

RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE IS:

A pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Various types of abuse are: Physical, Sexual, Emotional, Economical or Psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, injure or wound someone.

STALKING IS:

While legal definitions of stalking vary from one jurisdiction to another a good working definition of stalking is a course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear.

IS IT MY FAULT?

NO! It is not your fault. No one ever deserves to be a victim of sexual assault.
