Orientation to Kennesaw State doesn’t end at Ignition; it’s an on-going process! Transition Programs is here to assist you throughout your time at KSU. Our goals are to offer programs for new and returning students to engage in all facets of the Kennesaw State University experience; and to enhance academic, social, and civic connections through the introduction of resources and opportunities. We hope to connect and foster all students in transition, as well as help you successfully continue your journey as a KSU student.
Transfer Student Kick-off
Find your fit at KSU! Held in August before the start of the fall semester, the Transfer Student Kick-off is the perfect way for new and returning transfer students to learn further about KSU through a resource fair, campus tour, and information sessions on topics of interest.
The start of any semester can be overwhelming for students whether new or returning. In an effort to assist our students and provide a welcoming university presence on campus, the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP) hosts H.O.O.T. (Helping Others Orient Themselves) Booths as a part of Week of Welcome (WOW) festivities for the fall semester. Whether you need assistance or are interested in volunteering for a booth time slot, this is a great way to have your questions answered and get involved.
Tau Sigma National Honor Society
Tau Sigma is an academic honor society specifically designed to promote academic excellence and campus involvement among transfer students. Eligible students must have at least one full years’ academic credits satisfied at their prior institution(s), registered in a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree for an amount of work equal to an average full load, and must have a 3.5 GPA in their first semester at KSU. We’re looking for interested students to assist with this organization at KSU!
In its second year, Owl Expedition is a 4-day/3-night extended orientation camp experience that provides first-time, first-year KSU students an opportunity to learn further about their university and its resources; meet and interact with their new classmates and fellow peers, as well as faculty and staff; and promote student involvement with hopes of retention beyond the first year of school. Student attendees are assigned to an Owl Group with a Flight Crew Leader for the duration of the trip.
Apply to be a Flight Crew Leader!
Flight Crew Leaders are instrumental in the planning and successful implementation of the program. Chosen students will have the special opportunity to be involved in an exciting approach to sharing and promoting school spirit and what it means to be an Owl at the new Kennesaw State University. The Office of Orientation and Transition Programs is looking for enthusiastic, diverse, and involved students who have a true passion for Kennesaw State and Southern Polytechnic State, and who are wishing to add additional leadership skills to their repertoire. Flight Crew Leaders will serve as small group facilitators and peer mentors to a group of approximately 10-12 incoming first-year students before, during, and after the camp.
