ISEP Semester and
Academic Year Exchanges

Program Description
Kennesaw State University is a member of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). Through ISEP, KSU students can participate in student exchanges for one semester or academic year in a number of different countries. Students can take courses in their major field of study at an overseas institution, participating in classes with host institution students and faculty.

Program Dates
Students can study abroad during the fall semester, spring semester or full academic year. Program dates are determined by the host institution’s calendar. Fall semester start dates will be in July, August or September. Spring semester start dates will be January, February or March.

Note: Many European universities have fall semesters which extend into January. Spring semester or academic year exchanges to Europe work best. Universities in the Southern Hemisphere (Australia, New Zealand, South America, etc.) observe the Southern Hemisphere academic calendar. The academic year begins in February or March and ends in November or December.

Program Cost
A reciprocal exchange through ISEP is based on the cost of
attendance at Kennesaw State University. A reciprocal exchange is $5,490 for the spring 2008 semester, which includes tuition for 12 credit hours at KSU, fees, housing and meals; this covers the equivalent at the overseas host institution. Airfare, visa fees and incidentals are not included. ISEP charges a $315.00 (not included in the above) application fee.

Housing is included in the cost of an ISEP exchange. Depending on the university, students will live in residence halls, in offcampus apartments (host university either pays the apartment rent directly or provides students with a monthly stipend) and in some cases will have an option to live with host families.

Note that some participating ISEP countries/institutions (such as Australia and the United Kingdom) participate in Direct Exchanges, which have a different cost structure.

Requirements
Applicants are required to have a minimum of a 2.75 cumulative GPA and sophomore-level class standing at the time of application. Some ISEP exchanges (Japan and United Kingdom) require a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Prerequisites: ISEP exchanges to countries such as France,
Germany and Spain require completion of foreign language
coursework at the 3000 literature level for participation.

Application Deadlines
Applications for the spring 2008 semester are due by Aug. 15, 2007. Applications for the fall 2008 semester and academic year 2008-09 are due by Jan.15, 2008. Applications for Direct Exchanges (including Australia and New Zealand) are accepted on an ongoing basis.
