Intensive Italian Language in Sienna - Summer 2010
Program Description
Offered by the KSU Foreign Languages Department in collaboration with the Siena School for Liberal Arts, this full-immersion program is targeted to students with a specific interest in the Italian language and culture, who wish to enhance their knowledge of Italy by fully experiencing the Italian way of life. Students spend four weeks in Siena, one of the oldest and most beautiful university towns in Italy, situated in the heart of Tuscany. Students will engage in small-group, interactive courses, live with selected Italian families, and explore the area through guided tours of important sites such as Florence, Pisa and the Chianti countryside. Participants have the opportunity to travel over the weekend and to take part in all University of Siena events during their stay.

Program Costs - $3250 (Includes: Housing, course materials, two meals per day, city bus fare valid for one month, and insurance. Airfare is NOT included. Tuition is paid separately. Cost is subject to change.)

Application Deadline:
February 1, 2010
A $300 nonrefundable deposit is due at the time of application.
The first program installment of $1500 is due by March 1, 2010.
The second program installment of $1450 is due by March 15, 2010.
Courses
Students enroll in two beginning to advanced Italian courses for a total of 6 credit hours, as follows:
- One language and culture course among:
ITAL 1001, ITAL 1002, ITAL 2001, ITAL 2002, or ITAL 3302 (Practical conversation), as appropriate for the student’s level
AND
- ITAL 4490, Special topics in Italian (taught in English with opportunity to work in Italian for intermediate and advanced students)
Housing
In order to be immersed as much as possible in daily Italian life, students live with selected Italian families (private bedroom/bath). The school is located in a beautiful turn of the century villa in the center of Siena and is reachable on foot or by bus from all housing accommodations. Free internet access is available at the school.
