Karen
Robinson joined the faculty at Kennesaw State University in January
of 2000 as a Core Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. She teaches courses in directing, performance, dramatic literature and theater appreciation in addition to directing for KSU's production season. Prior to her arrival at KSU she taught and directed theatrical
productions at North Carolina School of the Arts and Wake Forest University.
Karen is an Associate Artist and Casting Associate at the Georgia Shakespeare
Festival where she has directed over eleven productions, in addition to
serving as a dramaturg, and stage manager. She has worked as a director,
dramaturg, and/or stage manager in New York, North Carolina, and many other theatres throughout the
Atlanta area, including Horizon Theatre Company, Seven Stages, Synchronicity
Performance Group, Soul-stice Repertory, Theatre Gael and Theatre in
the Square. Among her directorial credits are School for Wives, AMADEUS (listed
by the AJC as one of the most memorable theatrical productions of 2001),
Tartuffe, Saint Joan, The School for Scandal, Much Ado About Nothing
(named one of the year's 10 best shows by the Atlanta Journal and Constitution),
Love's Labours Lost, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cyrano de Bergerac
and The Bourgeois Gentleman. Karen earned her MFA in Directing
from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, during which time
she worked as an Assistant Director Off and Off Off Broadway. She is
a member of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, Southeastern
Theatre Conference, and Actors' Equity Association.
