Caitlin Trainor

Caitlin Trainor, originally from Rhode Island, is the artistic director of Trainor Dance and a lecturer at Barnard College/Columbia University. Normally based in NYC, she has taught, choreographed, and performed on both sides of the Atlantic. Caitlin has danced for the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Sean Curran, Amy Marshall, KDNY and Cirque du Soleil Project One Drop. Before founding Trainor Dance, Caitlin was assistant choreographer to Mr. Curran and site-specific choreographer Stephan Koplowitz. With her undergraduate degree in dance from Skidmore College and a M.F.A. in dance from Mills College, Caitlin has choreographed new work on the students of Providence College, Murray State University, and Northumbria University (Newcastle Upon Tyne,England), and recently assisted Wendy Taucher in directing the opera Dido and Aeneus at the Yard on Martha’s Vineyard. She has also taught at Montclair State University, American College Dance Festival, Sarah Lawrence College, and at Dance City in Newcastle, England. Caitlin will be setting new work on Nacre Dance Company (Albany, NY) and Newcastle College students (Newcastle Upon Tyne, England) in spring 2011.
