Jim Davis is pleased to return to the Atlanta area after more than 10 years in the very cold Midwest. In the early ‘90s, Davis worked as an actor, director and musician at numerous Atlanta theatres, including the Center for Puppetry Arts where he was employed for five years. While at the Center, Jim spent time as an instructor and resident puppeteer, and toured and performed throughout the Southeast. Most recently, he was an instructor in the Department of Theatre and Film at Bowling Green State University. Currently, he is a joint appointment in the KSU Department of Theatre and Performance Studies and the KSU Department of First Year Programs.
Among other topics, Davis has researched American modern dramatic literature, the performance of authenticity in popular culture, musical theatre in the Harlem Renaissance, and the increasingly blurry line that separates sport and theatre. He has also worked with a variety of arts organizations, including the Chicago Historical Society, the Mississippi River Museum (Dubuque, Iowa), Blackhawk Children's Theatre (Cedar Falls, Iowa) and Horizon Youth Theatre (Bowling Green, Ohio).
In the last several years, Jim has directed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), bash: latterday plays, Knock 'Em Dead, and Pinocchio; acted in Jane: Abortion in the Underground , Auction Today! and Annie; and created numerous solo and ensemble works for puppet theatre.
