Reiko Kimura trained with The San Francisco Ballet School under Harold Christensen, Anatole Vilzak, Ludmilla Schollar, Sally Streets and many others. She studied at the University of Utah for a year with Toni Lander, from the Royal Danish Ballet.
She began her performing career with The San Diego Ballet, then moved on to Nevada Dance Theatre. She danced with The Pennsylvania Ballet for 5 years performing in Philadelphia as well as touring the United States. Ms. Kimura joined Dennis Wayne’s Dancers, whose tours included the United States and Europe. After a six-year hiatus, and after moving to Georgia, she performed with the Georgia Ballet for four years.
Kimura began teaching at the age of 18 at the San Diego Ballet (company), The San Diego ballet School, and Ballet Society of San Diego. She continued to teach for the company with Nevada Dance Theatre; at The Pennsylvania Ballet School under Lupe Serrano and Bo Spassoff (now The Rock School); Steps in New York City, Terpsichore (Atlanta), The Metropolitan Ballet Theatre and the Georgia Ballet (company and school). She has been a member of the Faculty at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education for the past 12 years. She has trained students who have gone on to dance professionally in the New York City Ballet, ABT, San Francisco Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Nashville Ballet and on Broadway.
