KSU Dance Company will perform at national dance festival
By Cheryl Anderson Brown
Still glowing from the sold-out success of its debut concert production, the KSU Dance Company is taking its show on the road to perform for a national audience at the American College Dance Festival. The festival will take place at the University of Mississippi March 14-17, 2007.
"This is a great opportunity for the company to perform, where there exposed to the best of college dance in the country," said Ivan Pulinkala, director of the dance program at Kennesaw State. "The students will also be able to participate in masterclass and have some wonderful learning experiences."
In addition to the company members, many other students from Kennesaw State's burgeoning dance minor will also attend the festival.
"I'm looking forward to measuring myself against other dancers to see where I stand," said dance minor Cory Washington. "Professors from different universities will be teaching classes. I haven't decided which ones I'm going to sign up for yet, but I know I want to take a couple of jazz classes."
Now in its second year at KSU, the dance program has 100 declared minors and more than 150 students taking dance classes, according to Pulinkala.
