Classifications & Requirements

An application for admission to Kennesaw State University is required for all categories of applicants.  Deadlines and requirements may vary based on category. 

Steps to Admission and Application Instructions

Freshman -You are a freshman if you have never attended another college and have graduated from high school within the last five years.

Transfer Freshman - A transfer freshman graduated from high school in the last five years, has attended another college, but has earned less than 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of transferrable college credit. 

Transfer Students– If you have earned 30 semester hours, or 50 quarter hours, of college credit that will transfer to KSU, you are a transfer student.         

Non-Traditional / Adult Learners– Non-traditional adult learners graduated from high school more than five or more years ago.                                   

Dual Enrollment Honors Program (DEHP) – Dual Enrollment is concurrent enrollment in high school and college while a high school junior or senior, and is designed for academically accelerated students.

KSU Admission Scholar Program – Admission Scholars represent the top freshmen accepted to KSU, and have exciting opportunities through the Honors Program.

Home Educated Students - A home educated students graduated from a non-accredited high school or independent educational program that is supervised by a parent or tutor, and has not earned 30 semester hours, or 50 quarter hours, of college credit that will transfer to KSU.

International Students– International students must meet basic admission requirements, and may have additional requirements based on visa type, country of origin, and educational history.

Online Students- Kennesaw State University offers a variety of online courses and degree programs. Students must be admitted to KSU under an appropriate admission classification.

Transient – A transient student is a guest from another college or university for one term, and who has been verified by their home institution as eligible to return.

Veterans – Veterans fall under one of the admission classifications, and have some additional resources on campus.

Readmission – Former KSU attendees who must apply for readmission include those who have not been enrolled at KSU for three consecutive semesters, or last attended as a transient student, or wish to be considered to return after academic dismissal or learning support exclusion.  Also, students wishing to change their status (such as transient to degree seeking, degree seeking to non-degree) must apply for readmission.

Auditor – To attend as an audit student requires admission to KSU.

Non-Degree– Applicants who already hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, and wish to take courses for personal enrichment, may apply as non-degree seeking students and take courses for which they are eligible.  Please be aware that financial aid is not available for non-degree seeking students.

NOTE:  All enrolling students must provide the University System of Georgia proof of immunization to Immunization Services.  Also, all applicants who apply for in-state tuition must provide lawful presence verification.
