I was born in the city of Durham in the great state of North Carolina but I have called Atlanta home since I was in fifth grade. I grew up in Marietta, Georgia and graduated from Walton High School in 2001. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Samford University in 2006 and have worked in student recruitment since the day after my graduation. A few of my favorite activities are hanging out with my wife and two daughters, playing bass guitar, wheelin’ in my Jeep, and volunteering at church. Kennesaw State University is soaring to exciting heights and I am looking forward to helping you find your perch here at KSU. Go Owls!

Jacintha

Jacinta Luster, ’11

Admissions Counselor & Minority Recruiter

My name is Jacinta Luster, Admission Counselor and Recruiter. I was raised here in Kennesaw GA. I graduated from Kennesaw Mountain High School where I was heavily involved in Student Government. I was a transfer student from Georgia Highlands where I  received my associates in Business Administration. After leaving highlands I finished my bachelor's in Business Management at KSU. The reason that I chose KSU was that I loved being close to home, but still going to a large University with a small campus feel. When I was a student here, I was involved in S.T.A.R.S and a student assistant with the office of Undergraduate Admissions. I love being around my close friends and family, and I love any type of musical theater. Hope to see all of you making your own memories here at KSU!

Eric Benavidez

Admissions Counselor & Hispanic Recruiter

Originally from California, I attended Georgia Highlands College for a year and then transferred to the University of Southern California, where I earned my bachelors in International Relations. As a first-generation Latino college student, I faced many obstacles unique to the Latino population. At Kennesaw State University, I see that specific student population growing, and I want to help guide them around those roadblocks. Aside from reading and watching LA Lakers games, I like working with groups that support at-risk youth, homeless and migrant day laborers.

I was born and raised on Army bases all across the country before my family eventually settled in Powder Springs, Georgia. I graduated from the South Cobb High School Academy of Research and Medical Sciences in Austell, Georgia before attending the University of Georgia, where I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences. While in college, I joined the Georgia Army National Guard where I continue to serve to this day. I am passionate about working with service members and their families doing all I can to assist them in their pursuit of higher education. I believe that Kennesaw State University sets the standard for other schools across the southeast when it comes to their appreciation and services for veteran students, and I look forward to working with you as you make your transition to the Owl Nation.

Meredith Head, '11

Campus Visitation Program Coordinator

Upon graduating from Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Georgia, I quickly realized that Kennesaw State University was to be my home institution. KSU is a large university with a comfortable home town feel that offered me a place to thrive and place to pay forward things I enjoyed. While a student, I lived on campus, worked on campus, was involved in clubs, served on their executive boards and traveled to Spain as a study abroad student.  During my senior year I was honored to be elected and represent KSU students as their Homecoming Queen. After graduating with my Communications, Public Relations Bachelor’s Degree in 2011, I knew I would forever be a Fighting Owl. Kennesaw State gave me the confidence and foundation I needed to succeed in a professional world. I am deeply humbled to be part of the Admissions team and represent the Owl Nation to help future students gain what KSU gave to me. I look forward to showing you Georgia’s third largest university.
