Degrees

University College offers both an undergraduate degree in Integrative Studies and a graduate degree in First-Year Studies. The college is also the home of the Leadership Studies certificate program. All three programs are interdisciplinary, reflecting the focus of the college on today's careers.

B.S. in Integrative Studies

The Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Studies allows students the flexibility to individually design a curriculum that will guide them to accomplish their personal and career goals. There are three available tracks: Specialized Studies, Environmental Studies, and General Studies.

Specialized Studies Track (2.5 AGPA required for admission):

General Education and Fitness for Living Requirements (45-48 Credit Hours)

*Lower Division Major Requirements (Area F) (18 Credit Hours): Varies depending on academic areas selected.

*Upper Division Major Requirements (39 Credit Hours)

  • 12 credit hours each from two chosen academic areas.
  • 12 credit hours of upper-level course work approved by the INTS Director reflecting integration and application of upper-level academic skills. And 3 credit hours for INTS 4498: Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies.

Related Studies (9 Credit Hours)

  • Varies depending on academic areas.

Free Electives (12 Credit Hours)

  • Any courses in the university curriculum.

Program Total: 123 Credit Hours

Environmental Studies Track (2.5 AGPA required for admission):

Lower Division Major Requirements (Area F) (18-20 Credit Hours)

  • Varies depending on academic areas.

Upper Division Major Requirements (53-54 Credit Hours)

  • 12 credit hours each from three academic areas.
  • 12 credit hours of coursework approved by the INTS Director reflecting integration and application of upper-level academic skills. And 3 credit hours for INTS 4498: Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies.

Related Studies (0-6 Credit Hours)

  • Varies: Environmental Policy=0; Environmental Science=6.

Free Electives (0-9 Credit Hours)

  • Any courses in the university curriculum. Varies: Environmental Science=0; Environmental Policy=9.

Program Total: 124-126 Credit Hours

General Studies Track (2.0 AGPA required for admission):

General Education and Fitness for Living Requirements (45-48 Credit Hours)

Lower Division Major Requirements (Area F) (18 Credit Hours)

  • Varies depending on interest areas but must include IT 2101: Computers in Your World and COM 2129: Public Speaking (COM 1109: Human Communication can be substituted if it was not taken to fulfill their general education requirements).

Upper Division Major Requirements (39 Credit Hours)

  • Varies depending on interest areas but must include LDRS 3000: Foundations of Leadership and WRIT 3140: Technical Writing, INTS 4498: Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies and 12 hours in one or a cluster of two academic areas.

Free Electives (21 Credit Hours)

  • Any courses in the university curriculum.

M.S. in First-Year Studies

This online graduate degree provides participants with the knowledge of the transitions that first-year students face to prepare them to design, manage and deliver both curricular and co-curricular programs to help first-year students succeed. Grounded in decades of research, this is the only graduate degree program dedicated to the discipline of first-year studies.

Leadership Studies Certificate

The 15-credit-hour certificate program enhances students' leadership development through innovative courses combining theory and practice. All LDRS courses are offered online, allowing web learners to complete the certificate as well.
