Meet the Director—Dr. Keisha Hoerrner

Dr. Keisha L. Hoerrner is the CLASS Director and an Associate Professor of Communication in the Department of University Studies. She also served as the Scholarship Fellow in the RTM Institute for Leadership, Ethics & Character for two years (2003-2005).

Prior to her transition in Fall ‘04 to an administrative position in University Studies, Dr. Hoerrner taught mass communication courses in the Communication Department. Her primary courses included media law, contemporary issues in mass media, and introduction to mass communication. She also developed and taught a special topics course exploring children and electronic media.

Dr. Hoerrner’s position in University Studies allows her to direct the learning communities initiative, teach in the First-Year Experience program, and serve on the University College Advisory Council, which she chaired last year.

Dr. Hoerrner is a proud alumnae of Kennesaw State. She graduated in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in communication. Her master's degree and Ph.D. are from the University of Georgia. Prior to returning to KSU in 2000, Dr. Hoerrner was a faculty member at Louisiana State University. She has authored 10 peer reviewed articles for national publications, presented at more than a dozen conferences, and written three instructor's manuals for textbooks. She was honored as one of 40 outstanding alumni during KSU's 40th anniversary celebration in 2003.
