Interdisciplinary Degree Program
Requirements:
- Students must complete a total of 39 upper-division credit hours across at least two different disciplines.
- Each of these disciplines must have a minimum of 12 upper division hours.
- The university core requirements must be satisfied and the 39 upper division hours must all be of a grade of “C” or higher.
- Students desiring the Interdisciplinary degree major will need to explain both in writing and orally to the Interdisciplinary Studies Council the rationale/justification—explaining how the degree assists the student in reaching both personal and career goals.
- Students will be required to prepare a curriculum that includes courses in three categories: writing/communication, theory/culture, and application/integration.
- To qualify for the program, each student must combine at least two disciplines.
- Each student must work with a faculty advisor and have a collaborative advisor from the second discipline.
- The program proposal must fit student learning outcomes.
- The proposal must provide the niche that the combined disciplines that cannot be accomplished with a KSU degree program already offered.
- The student must have some summative experience through research, coursework, internship, or practicum to integrate the interdisciplinary program.
- Students are strongly encouraged to have an internship, applied learning experience, or practicum in their degree program.
