  • The SI Leader's chief purpose is to promote independent learning

  • The SI Leader's primary purpose is to connect course content by involving students in sharing class notes, solving problems, using handouts, taking practice tests and exams and reviewing study skills. In SI, students connect what-to-learn with how-to-learn. SI Leaders help students become effective independent learners.

  • Meet a minimum of twice a month with the professor (for 10-15 minutes) to share progress of the sessions and to receive suggestions for other methods of presentation

  • Encourage students to become more independent, empowered learners and critical thinkers

  • Actively recruit students to attend sessions by way of advertising and through one-on-one contact before and after the class lecture or through

  • Be open to new ideas and suggestions for improving sessions

  • Share ideas for sessions and advertising with other SI leaders and be a team player with the other student leaders

  • Be positive and enthusiastic about the SI program.

Together we can make a difference.
