Meet the Team — Ms. Fiona Brantley & Ms. Nancy Burney.
Meet the SI Director — Ms. Fiona Brantley
Fiona Brantley joined the faculty of Kennesaw State University in fall 2006 as the Coordinator of the Supplemental Instruction program and Senior Lecturer of English. She teaches ENGL 1101 in learning communities and also ENGL 1102. She brings with her over twenty years of experience in the field of higher education both as an administrator and an instructor. The SI program is new and seeks to help students achieve academic success. “I love being a part of the SI program. SI actually gives students an early warning. On the first day of class we tell them that this is one of the most difficult courses at KSU. The D, F, W rate is over 30%. Then we tell them the good news … we are here to help you navigate the rapids. Let us partner with you so that you achieve your potential in this course. What a wonderful opportunity!!” says Ms. Brantley. Since the pilot program in Spring 2006, the SI program has continued to grow. It is something that Ms. Brantley is greatly encourage by. She says, “More and more faculty members have embraced SI and more and more students are asking about it. This is a sign that we are growing and have the potential to make a great impact here at KSU. We just have to keep doing a good job and spreading the word. Our students are very busy BUT they should not be too busy to ensure that they do well in class. SI is one way to do this.” If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about the Supplemental Instruction program, please contact Fiona Brantley at (678) 797-2346 or by email – fbrantle@kennesaw.edu.
