Each 2-D work is to be represented by two images: the first image (A) should be an overall view of the work, the second image (B) should be of a significant detail. A third image (C) of a different overall view may be submitted for 3-D works.

Your submissions should have a sufficient resolution as long as the smallest
pixel dimension set on your digital camera is 1,536 pixels or greater. (A 3-megapixel digital camera set to its highest resolution can accommodate this.) This resolution allows viewers the ability to zoom in for viewing details.
(See information about resolution.)

File naming schema:
example: SmithK_Grenade_1A.jpg

CD & Color Printouts: Professional quality images in JPEG format must be submitted on a clearly labeled CD-ROM (artist name and address on CD itself, not just the cover) with both an image list on the CD and in hard copy form. Color printouts must accompany the CD; each printed image should be at least 5 in. x 7 in.

Slides: Digital images are preferred, however you may enter slides. Unmarked slides will not be reviewed. Slides must be marked as follows:

  1. Artist’s name
  2. Title of work
  3. Dimensions of work (in inches): Height x Width x Depth
  4. Retail price
  5. On lower left corner of slide indicate entry number (#1-3), corresponding with Entry Form and indicate letter A, B or C (see above). Slides of 2-D works will be labeled 1A-1B, 2A-2B & 3A-3B. Slides of 3-D works may also include a second overall view, labeled 1C, 2C or 3C.
  6. Mark “TOP” on face of slide to indicate proper orientation of image. Mail slides (cardboard or plastic mounted only) in plastic slide sheet and enclose self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for return of your slides. Slides of accepted works will be retained by Kennesaw State University and may be used for documentation and promotion of the exhibition, including the gallery web site.

Fee: A non-refundable $25 fee must accompany the CDs and entry information. Your check or money order is to be made payable to: Kennesaw State University

What to Send: CD-ROM (with color printouts) or slides with $25 fee, entry form, artwork descriptions, and SASE for return of CD/slides of unaccepted works to:

Kennesaw State University’s Don Russell Clayton Gallery is 1800 square feet of exhibition space located within the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. The exterior walls are painted sheetrock backed by plywood. The gallery also utilizes MBA mila-wall moveable walls. The ceiling height is 15 feet and the mila-walls are 10.5 feet.

PUBLICITY - Due July 17, 2009
To assist us in our efforts to publicize the show, please provide professional slides or high-resolution JPEG images (350 dpi) on CD. All artists juried into Spotlight 2009 should submit an artist statement and/or resume. The artist statement should be one or two paragraphs concerning the works you will have in the exhibition. These statements/resumes will be compiled into a notebook available to the viewers for the duration of the show.

PACKING & SHIPPING - Artworks due July 31, 2009
Pack artworks securely in reusable containers with reusable packing materials. We prefer that all framed works use Plexiglas. Any artworks incorporating breakable elements should be double boxed and/or shipped in wooden crates. Please include any packing, shipping and/or installation instructions needed for the safe handling and return of your work.

All shipping costs are responsibility of the artist. If works are NFS (not for sale), a return-shipping label should be included with submission of your publicity documents.
If works are for sale, a check, debit card or credit card number and expiration date (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted) should be submitted with your publicity documents to cover the cost of return. Return revenue will not be processed for artworks that are sold.

All artworks will be insured from the time of receipt at Kennesaw State University through the departure from campus. If your work is juried in, an exhibition and loan agreement will be sent to you to be completed and returned to KSU with your publicity documents prior to the July 17 deadline. Be sure to keep a copy for your files.

Artwork with retail prices shall be considered available for purchase while on exhibit. If work is not for sale, indicate NFS and include insurance value. KSU requires a 40% commission on any artwork sold. Payment for sold pieces will be made to the artists at the close of the exhibition.

Following Juror Notification, accepted works (no substitutes!) are to be shipped prepaid or hand delivered to:
