Matt Haffner, born in Akron Ohio in 1969, studied at the University of Akron and at The Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, completing his MFA in 1998. Among his accomplishments, Matt received Kennesaw State University’s prestigious Foundation Prize for his “Serial City” project, he was the 2004 Forward Arts Foundation, emerging artist of the year and a studio artist at the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center. In 2006 he completed a citywide public art project for Atlanta Celebrates Photography, and was published in New American Paintings. Matt’s work deals with ambiguous narratives that often combines photography and drawing to create immediate and graphic images. His works are inspired by graffiti, comic books and European film noir. Matt’s work is represented by Lyons Weir Ortt Contemporary in New York and Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia.
