Writing Across the Curriculum

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC), part of the larger field of rhetoric and composition/writing studies, emphasizes the key role that writing plays in knowledge acquisition, assessment, and communication in all disciplines. WAC strategies help faculty efficiently and effectively include more writing in all courses.

Currently, only the College of Humanities and Social Sciences actively supports WAC activities. The CHSS WAC program currently operates as a faculty development initiative and meets monthly in the Writing Center Conference Room.

The program has two parts:

  • A workshop every fall featuring a nationally recognized WAC expert for approximately twenty faculty members.

  • Monthly meetings of WAC “Fellows”—faculty who commit to changing one course using WAC principles and who may receive additional support from the CHSS Dean.

For more information on WAC or to inquire about applying to be a CHSS WAC Fellow, please contact Beth Daniell, CHSS WAC Director, at bdaniell@kennesaw.edu or Mary Lou Odom, CHSS WAC Associate Director, at modom3@kennesaw.edu.
