Kennesaw State student Kaylin Bailey is gaining hands-on experience in film production through the Tyler Perry Dreamers Internship Program—taking her first steps toward becoming a producer, director, and actress.

Kaylin Bailey has always dreamed of a career in film—and this summer, she’s taking a major step toward that dream as an intern in the prestigious Tyler Perry Dreamers Internship Program.

A student at Kennesaw State University, Kaylin is gaining hands-on experience in multiple areas of film production, from working as a set production assistant to exploring roles like script supervisor and casted extra. The program is designed to give aspiring creatives a comprehensive look at the inner workings of a major studio—and for Kaylin, it’s a chance to learn, grow, and shine.

“This internship is my start,” Kaylin said. “Everyone has to begin somewhere, and I believe I’ll come out of this experience knowing more than I ever have before. It’s preparing me to become a better screenwriter, director, and actress—and ultimately, a producer of my own films.”

Kaylin found the opportunity through a personal referral, but she credits her success to the support system she’s built at KSU. “My professors, colleagues, and friends at KSU helped me reach this goal,” she said. “Their encouragement pushed me further into the door of my career.”

One of those professors is David King, whom Kaylin considers an honorary mentor. “He’s opened my eyes to the deeper meaning of films,” she said. “The history, the process, the storytelling—it’s all inspired me. His real-life discussions and connections to the movies we study have made a lasting impact.”

Beyond the classroom, Kaylin has embraced the KSU community through service. She recalls her favorite moment as a volunteer: participating in the Snack Packing Event, where students came together to prepare meals for local elementary school children. “It was a proud moment,” she said. “I was part of a group that cared—and that meant a lot.”

As she looks ahead, Kaylin offers heartfelt advice to fellow Owls: “Keep going. As cliché as it sounds, the challenges you face are preparing you for the opportunities ahead. Whatever your dream is, you are fully capable of achieving it. It all starts with your mindset.”

With her passion, drive, and a powerful internship experience under her belt, Kaylin Bailey is well on her way to making her mark in the film industry.
