    Recent Kennesaw State University graduate April Ford engaged in a program designed to help master’s students in the College of Science and Mathematics gain the experience they needed to pursue doctoral degrees elsewhere. She’ll stand as an example of the Peach State Bridges to the Doctorate program’s effectiveness, having earned her Master of Science in Integrative Biology (MSIB) and acceptance into a Ph.D. program. Ford, Jojo Croffie, and Lindsey Knight all earned their MSIB degrees, and thanks to enrichment through the Peach State Bridges to the Doctorate program, each will start a Ph.D. in the fall.

    Katelyn Dockery remembers being pre-school age, sitting in her father’s office after school, coloring on a white board with markers. Her twin sister Taylor recalls going to Kennesaw State University basketball games and getting her face painted in the lobby at VyStar Arena. Their father, KSU Faculty Director of General Education in KSU’s Office of Academic Affairs Chris Dockery, remembers it all — basketball games, afternoons spent in his office with his daughters, taking them to lunch at The Commons, among other activities. And 21 years later, the Dockery family has cemented its legacy at KSU, with a pair of new graduates.

    Ph.D. student selected for research appointment at Savannah River National Laboratory

    What began as a childhood spent working on cars with his father and older brother has led Matthew Azaroff to one of the nation’s premier research institutions. The Kennesaw State University doctoral student has been selected for a summer research internship at Savannah River National Laboratory, where he will conduct advanced manufacturing research alongside leading scientists and engineers.
