  • Art and design master's degree approved for Kennesaw State University

    The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved the first graduate degree for Kennesaw State University’s College of the Arts, a Master of Arts in Art and Design. The new program, which will be housed in the College’s School of Art and Design, features three tracks in digital animation, art education and museum studies.  –  November 11, 2020

  • Doctoral student aims to leverage data analytics degree to advance U.S. Army

    Lt. Col. Trent Geisler’s military career has led him across the globe as he did everything from commanding dive teams in Southwest Asia to teaching at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Now a second-year student in Kennesaw State University’s Ph.D. in Analytics and Data Science program, his main directive is to earn his degree with the intent to apply his studies within the Army thereafter. Upon graduation, he will once again join the faculty at West Point to guide future generations of commissioned officers in data science.  –  November 11, 2020

  • Big South Conference Announces Spring Football Schedule

    The Big South Conference released the 2021 spring football schedule on Monday, a four-game slate with the league champion earning the automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. In search of its third Big South Conference championship in the last four seasons and its fourth consecutive FCS Playoffs appearance, Kennesaw State is looking to join Coastal Carolina as the only programs in league history to make the playoffs in four consecutive seasons.  –  November 09, 2020

  • First-generation students thriving at Kennesaw State

    Madeleine Carden admittedly was apprehensive about being the first person in her family to attend college. However, she felt at home right away at Kennesaw State through the University’s initiatives to help first-generation students succeed. Early in her freshman year, Carden attended the inaugural meeting of First-Gen Owls, a registered student organization that strives to build interpersonal skills, connections and a sense of belonging among its members. Carden described that meeting as “an eye-opening experience,” as she met several KSU alumni who were enjoying successful careers after having been the first in their families to earn college degrees.  –  November 06, 2020

  • Star student overcomes homelessness to excel

    To say Kennesaw State senior Carrie Lyn Barron has a lot of irons in the fire is an understatement. Among those who know her, the most popular observation is “I don’t know how she does it.” Barron, a non-traditional cellular, molecular and developmental biology major and student in KSU Journey Honors College, works in the lab of professor of biochemistry Jonathan McMurry, works two jobs and cares for her husband, Jay, who has autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). With support from Kennesaw State’s Campus Awareness, Resource and Empowerment (CARE) Services, the couple now have a stable place to live.  –  November 05, 2020

    Kennesaw State will celebrate the university’s ethical culture and emphasize the importance of professional conduct during its annual Ethics Awareness Week, Nov. 9-13. The Rev. Harris T.
