Ramazan Aygun, director of Research Computing and associate professor of computer science, received funding for his project, “Advancing High-Speed Networking for STEM Research and Educations at Kennesaw State University,” aims to establish a state-of-the-art research network at KSU that includes science DMZs and a Data Transfer Node (DTN) server.

That drive, along with a passion to give back, recently resulted in a capstone project providing a technology-inspired solution for a local animal rescue. Originally trained as an electrical engineer in Bulgaria, Stoyanov aspired to study information technology, ultimately leading him and his wife, Teodora Stoyanov, to Kennesaw State University’s College of Computing and Software Engineering.

Ph.D. graduate ready to make impact in artificial intelligence industry

Eight years ago, while working as a software engineer for a South Korean cybersecurity company, InChan Hwang watched a historic game of Go, a strategic board game for two players that originated in ancient China, between a professional player and a computer using artificial intelligence (AI). He realized the profound potential of AI following its victory. Since completing his Ph.D. in Data Science and Analytics from Kennesaw State University’s College of Computer Science and Engineering, Hwang has started a new role as an assistant professor of cybersecurity at Montreat College in North Carolina.
