Kennesaw State will graduate over 2,600 students over five ceremonies held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, and Wednesday, Dec. 18 in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus.

We are always encouraged by our students' ability to achieve success, both in the classroom and in other areas of university life. Academically, this is evident through class and other engaged learning opportunities where student success is demonstrated by the group effort. But there are also opportunities outside the classroom where our students are learning the importance of teamwork and how to collaborate to achieve a successful outcome.

Kennesaw State University President Pamela Whitten and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Kathy Schwaig have named Ivan Pulinkala dean of the College of the Arts, effective March 18. Pulinkala has served as interim dean of the College since July 2018. Previously, he was the chair of KSU’s Department of Dance, a program he founded in 2005 and developed into the largest collegiate dance program in Georgia. He also was instrumental in the development of the Dance Theater on the University’s Marietta Campus, Atlanta’s first theater designed specifically for dance.

Prospective Kennesaw State University art students and the community can observe a range of art classes from drawing to painting to printmaking to electronic illustration, when the School of Art and Design holds its Open Studio Event on Feb. 21 from 5 – 8 p.m. One set of studio courses begins at 5 p.m. while another set begins at 6:30 p.m., and visitors may stay for both sessions.

The Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art’s Spring 2019 exhibitions, “Louder than Words” and “Sahwa/Resurgence: Works by Hicham Berrada,” open on Saturday, Feb. 2. A free reception and special programming from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. features performances by Vanessa Yvonne Jagodinsky and by Katelyn Rose King of John Cage's “Water Walk.”

College rankings are one measure of success for today’s universities, and Kennesaw State is no stranger to that notable recognition. During the fall semester, the University was named among the nation’s best in several academic degree program rankings, which recognized Kennesaw State for its unique offerings, strong online programs and affordability.

Kennesaw State University has named Phaedra Corso as vice president for research, effective Feb. 4. Corso currently serves as the director of the Economic Evaluation Research Group in the College of Public Health and the associate director of the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research at the University of Georgia.

Kennesaw State University’s Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) will present a new take on Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “Our Town” when the play opens at the Stillwell Theater on the Kennesaw Campus, Nov. 6-11.
