Kennesaw State nursing major finds success in data science

It was happenstance that a Kennesaw State student realized her calling for both nursing and numbers. Trinity Johnson, a nursing major from Stone Mountain, Ga., for Spring semester needed to satisfy an elective course requirement for the KSU Journey Honors College and stumbled upon a class in data science. During that course Johnson uncovered a raw talent for analytics and ended up being the youngest student to place in the highly competitive data science competition at KSU held on what is called Analytics Day.

Avani Shah has always had a competitive streak — but not with others. “Ever since I was a child, I’ve struggled with profound dyslexia, which has presented me with constant challenges,” said Shah, a Kennesaw State graduating marketing major. “I consistently focused on outperforming my last effort and making progress. I learned early on the importance of playing to the best of my ability every time. That became my mindset, and it’s allowed me to be competitive in many ways.”

Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Karen Kornweibel in the KSU Journey Honors College and Juliet Langman in the Graduate College. Each are accomplished scholars and leaders who come to KSU ready to help the University achieve its goals.

Fall 2022 Commencement

Kennesaw State University’s Convocation Center echoed with sounds of jubilation this week as students participated in the time-honored tradition of the Commencement ceremonies. This week, nearly 3,000 students will walk across the stage in one of six ceremonies in which undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students will be awarded degrees from the University. Spring 2022 Commencement

Cheers and tears came together at the Kennesaw State University Convocation Center this week for spring Commencement. Graduates, their families, faculty and the entire University community gathered to celebrate conferring of degrees to more than 3,500 over two days of ceremonies. Kennesaw State senior named Fulbright Scholar, headed to teach in Spain

Kennesaw State University senior Sydney Tomlin has earned a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to teach English to students in a Model United Nations program in Spain starting in September. Tomlin said she took her first Spanish class in eighth grade and has had a passion for language since.
