Kennesaw State University graduates earn higher salaries in their chosen career fields than those from the majority of Georgia’s colleges and universities, according to this year’s rankings by salary information company PayScale. Kennesaw State ranked fifth out of 41 public and private institutions in Georgia in PayScale’s 2017 College Salary Report.

Kennesaw State University President Sam Olens paid tribute to the South Cobb Rotary Club and its President Darlene Duke for the group’s steadfast commitment over the past 40 years to fund dozens of scholarships for Cobb County students and various faculty projects. Olens praised the organization, which has been in existence nearly 80 years, for living up to its motto, “Service above Self.”

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on Tuesday approved Yvonne Eaves’ appointment as the Thomas and Elizabeth Holder Chair in Kennesaw State University’s WellStar School of Nursing. Eaves, an associate professor of nursing, had been serving as interim director of the WellStar School of Nursing since Tommie Nelms’ retirement on June 30. The new School of Nursing Chair is in recognition of Thomas and Elizabeth Holder’s $1 million gift to the KSU Foundation.

The Honorable LaDoris “Dot” Harris, the former director of the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity at the U.S. Department of Energy and a Southern Polytechnic State University alumna, will address more than 2,000 graduates at Kennesaw State University’s summer Commencement, beginning Friday, July 28, at 10 a.m. Other speakers include Teresa M. Joyce, professor emeritus of management, and Mark R. Anderson, the dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. Kennesaw State President Samuel S. Olens will preside over the three graduation ceremonies in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus.

More than 3,200 students will graduate during Kennesaw State University’s spring Commencement. Among the speakers who will deliver addresses are the first black female Air Force general, an internationally recognized entrepreneur, and a high school dropout who became a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and will graduate from medical school this month. Kennesaw State President Samuel S. Olens will preside over the five graduation ceremonies in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus, beginning Tuesday, May 9, at 10 a.m.

Tuition for Kennesaw State University students will increase by only 2 percent for the 2017-2018 academic year based on a vote by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) at its monthly meeting today. The increase impacts all 28 colleges and universities within the USG.
