MS in Construction Management

No. You need a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Applicants with a background in architecture, engineering or construction usually enter directly. Applicants from other fields - business, law, the military, the trades - are admitted with foundation courses matched to their transcript and experience; we review every transcript individually. More than half of our students arrive from outside construction - a different background is an asset here, not a gap.

This graduate-level program is ideal for future executives. The coursework is designed to help you think strategically, sharpen your legal acumen, and learn how to make data-informed decisions.

As an MSCM student, you will learn how to:

• Manage complex construction data using advanced informatics, forecasting tools, and digital documentation systems to make data-driven decisions.
• Develop strategic approaches to estimate and bid on multi-million dollar projects. You will learn to analyze market conditions, risk factors, and cost variables to win contracts and maximize profitability.
• Master the art of risk management in construction by being able to anticipate, assess, and control risks in large-scale projects, ensuring safety compliance and financial stability.
• Navigate the legal landscape of construction with more confidence. Learn to interpret contracts, manage claims, and ensure regulatory compliance – skills that are essential for leadership roles in today’s complex construction environment.

The College of Architecture and Construction Management (CACM) awards scholarships at the highest rate at KSU, and among the largest amounts - more than 25 named industry scholarships, and MS students are eligible. Each scholarship award, and the amount, will be based on the actual funds available. See eligibility and deadlines on the awards page. Graduate research assistantships are also available once a student reaches full admission status.

International applicants use the same deadlines as all applicants: Fall (July 1) and Spring (November 1). Plan to have all documents in a few months earlier than deadlines considering that credential evaluation, English testing, and visa processing take time.

MSCM is STEM-designated. Graduates are eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training in the U.S. after graduation. International students must meet basic international admissions requirements for their classification, and you may have additional requirements based on visa type, country of origin, and educational history.
