The Master of Social Work (MSW) program prepares you for clinical and nonclinical practice through evidence-based learning and hands-on field experience. Choose the traditional two-year track or accelerate your degree with the Advanced Standing option, allowing qualified Bachelor's of Social Work graduates to finish in just one year.

  • Yes. The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Because of this accreditation, MSW graduates are eligible to take the Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) exam. You may also pursue further clinical supervision requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).  Only alumni of accredited social work graduate programs are eligible to pursue this licensing or to be called a social worker.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, submit letters of recommendation, and complete a required writing sample.
  • Aid is available for those interested in addressing students' behavioral health in schools in rural and underserved Georgia counties.
  • Students complete 12 credit hours of supervised field practicum in Atlanta‑area agencies, gaining hands‑on clinical experience.
  • Double Owl Pathways offer KSU undergraduate students the opportunity to obtain their undergraduate and graduate degrees faster and at a lower cost than if they pursued each degree independently. 

    Current KSU undergraduate students interested in the MSW  may have an option for a Double Owl Pathway. To view the list of available pathways, please submit your RFI form and you will be directed to the information.
