Three Kennesaw State alumni receive Fulbright awards

Jaylen Jackson developed a love of languages as a Kennesaw State University student, and now he has received a Fulbright grant to continue toward his career goal of teaching English as a second language to adults. “Being a Fulbright recipient gives me a great opportunity to get experience and pursue my dream,” said Jackson, who will serve as an English teaching assistant at a university in Brazil for one year starting in March. “I know that a Fulbright is difficult to get, so I’m honored to be part of it.” Jackson, who graduated last year with an integrative studies degree, is one of three Kennesaw State alumni recently awarded a Fulbright to study or teach abroad.

Donor to help international students feel at home at KSU

Harry Vardis knows firsthand the value of receiving a college scholarship as an international student, so he is providing that same opportunity to students at Kennesaw State University. Vardis, 79, has committed a seven-figure donation to establish a legacy scholarship fund – the Harry and Athena Vardis Scholarships – which will be given to deserving KSU students, with a focus on students from foreign countries.

Kennesaw State presents Fifth Annual International Awards

Kennesaw State University’s Division of Global Affairs awarded its highest honor – the Global Public Service Prize – to the architect responsible for Atlanta’s Millennium Gate Museum and the Prince of Wales Monument, the city’s lasting tribute to the Centennial Olympic Games. Rodney Mims Cook, Jr., founder of the National Monuments Foundation, accepted the honor at the University’s Fifth Annual International Awards Ceremony April 14 at the Marietta Country Club.

Kennesaw State University Presidential Search Committees Named
