Clothing Closet Initiative at KSU

The Clothing Closet is an initiative to provide gender-affirming clothing to students and offer a more comfortable and accessible way to shop for clothing that fits their stylistic needs.

The Clothing Closet strengthens the community at KSU by fostering students' freedom to authentically express one's self through fashion. The Clothing Closet is available to all KSU students at no cost and is supported by donations from the KSU Community.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • The Clothing Closet is an initiative that gives all students, including transgender, genderfluid, gender non-conforming, and non-binary students, access to a variety of clothes that can help them with transitioning, easing dysphoria, and accessing clothing they cannot or do not feel comfortable buying in public.
  • Donations can be dropped off in the LGBTQ Resource Center during normal business hours (8:00 AM-5:00 PM, M-F). The LGBTQ Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Kennesaw Campus Student Center in Suite 253.
  • The Clothing Closet accepts new and used clothing, shoes, and accessories.

For donations to be accepted, they must be:

    • Clean and in good repair, with no tears or stains
    • Recently washed
    • Adult-sized

We do not accept donations of intimate items, such as:

    • Undergarments
    • Socks
    • Make-up

Please note: Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis if items are new and in original packaging.

We recommend donations be appropriate for the current season, such as donating fall/winter clothes during the Fall semester and spring/summer clothes during the Spring semester. We also encourage donations of business and formal attire.

  • The way the Clothing Closet works is simple: take whatever you need! The Clothing Closet is here for you and your needs. We do not track the number of items a student chooses to take with them.

Please note: We do recommend returning business and/or formal attire when you no longer need them so that every student can take advantage of them for things like job interviews.

  • To try on clothing, students will need to leave their Talon Card at the front desk, with a student assistant, then try their clothes on in a nearby bathroom. Talon Cards can be retrieved after the student returns from trying on their clothes.
