The History Education degree will prepare you and certify you in the state of Georgia to teach social studies in grades 6-12. After being certified in history, you can add on additional teaching fields simply by passing additional Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) exams.
You will complete the equivalent of a major in history in a cross-disciplinary teaching field from our award-winning faculty. By taking courses in various social science disciplines like geography, political science and economics, you'll undergo pedagogical training and immersive field experiences in middle and high school classrooms at public schools, including a yearlong placement during your final year.
The National Council fully accredits the B.S. in History Education for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), is fully approved by Georgia’s Professional Standards Commission (GPSC) for teacher certification and is nationally recognized by the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS).
