Textbooks

General Information

Please do not purchase course materials! The KSU Bookstore provides all required course materials to you at no charge. At the beginning of the semester, please check your KSU email for information about course materials from the KSU Bookstore. Those emails will come from DEbooks@kennesaw.edu or dayone@kennesaw.edu.

Any physical course materials provided remain the property of the KSU Bookstore. You must return everything by a specified date at the end of the semester. The KSU Bookstore does not reimburse or replace any materials you obtained elsewhere.
Note: Students taking self-pay courses or who have exhausted their allowable Dual Enrollment hours may be personally responsible for acquiring and paying for some items.

Picking Up Your Course Materials

Before picking anything up, verify what you need by logging in to Owl Express, selecting the “Student Services” menu at the top, and then clicking the first link, “KSU Bookstore.” This will give you a list of the textbooks and course materials your professors submitted.

If you have made any recent changes to your schedule before picking up your materials, please let the bookstore staff know so we can determine if any changes need to be made to what we have pulled for you.

You can pick up your books from the KSU Bookstore, located on the second floor of the Carmichael Student Center on the Kennesaw campus. Go to the main cash register and notify an employee that you are a Dual Enrollment student needing to pick up your course materials. Please bring your Talon Card or other valid photo ID.

Note: If you wish to pick up your course materials on the Marietta campus, please email DEbooks@kennesaw.edu with the subject “Marietta Pickup Request.”

Type of Course Materials

Day One Access Items

This is a special type of digital course material that students access directly through the school’s Desire2Learn (D2L) system.

Do not opt-out of this program. Day One charges will not be applied to your account. You may receive emails offering to opt out to avoid being charged — please disregard these emails. Opting out will result in losing access to your required course materials and having to acquire and pay for the materials on your own.

Physical Items

Traditional, printed materials that may be hardback, paperback, or loose-leaf.

Do not open any shrink-wrapped packages or sealed access codes until you are 100% certain that you have the correct course materials and will stay enrolled in the class.

Access Code Items

A physical code (typically sealed or scratch-off) that the bookstore provides. The code is used to activate and access the relevant course materials.

Digital Book Items

These are purely digital course materials. The bookstore provides the necessary code (sometimes via email) to activate and access the digital materials.

Returning Your Course Materials

The physical course materials provided are considered rentals and remain the property of the KSU Bookstore. Please do not sell, dispose of, or donate these items. Except for access codes, workbooks, and lab manuals, you must return all materials provided to the KSU Bookstore by close of business on the last day of finals.

Other Important Textbook Information

If you make any changes to your class schedule after you pick up your textbooks, or if you feel you have received the wrong course materials, please visit the KSU bookstore or contact us at DEbooks@kennesaw.edu

Mobile Talon Card (Student ID)

Your Mobile Talon Card is your virtual KSU student ID card for use across campus. After registering for at least one course, you can set up your Mobile Talon Card.

Follow the steps provided on the Mobile Talon Card website to download the Transact eAccounts app and submit your photo. Once the Talon One Service Center approves your photo, you will receive an email with instructions for setting up your card in your digital wallet.

If you would like a physical Talon Card, please visit a Talon One Service Center location. The first physical card is provided free of charge. Replacement cards are $25.

Parking and Transportation

You are eligible to purchase a parking permit in the Parking Portal after registering for at least one course. With our virtual parking permits, you do not need a physical parking permit (hangtag, decal, etc.). Permits for Dual Enrollment students are valid only for the Shuttle Lot on both campuses. Visit the Student Permits website for campus maps.

We also encourage Dual Enrollment students to use the Big Owl Bus, which offers transportation to the heart of campus from the Shuttle Lots and services both campuses.

Meal Plans

You can purchase an optional meal plan to save money when dining on campus. You can also contact the Meal Plan Manager to learn about the meal plans available to Dual Enrollment students. Meal Plans are not covered by Dual Enrollment funding and are considered out-of-pocket expenses.

Dual Enrollment to Degree-Seeking Freshman

Graduating Dual Enrollment seniors who wish to continue at KSU will need to complete the Dual Enrollment to Degree-Seeking application. Dual Enrollment seniors will receive instructions via email on how to submit this application.

Joint Enrollment

Joint Enrollment is an alternative program to Dual Enrollment. It is available to high school juniors and seniors who wish to take transferable college-level courses while still in high school.

After Dual Enrollment funds are exhausted, students who want to continue enrolling in Dual Enrollment courses will become joint-enrolled and will be responsible for paying full tuition, fees, and books.
