Presidential Portraits on Display at KSU

The KSU Presidential Portraits project was developed by the Office of the President and the Department of Museums, Archives and Rare Books. Eight installations on the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses showcase portraits of the presidents of KSU and the former Southern Polytechnic State University by KSU alumnus Shane McDonald. The installations also include the presidential seal and a biographical panel describing the president's impact on university growth, student and community engagement, research, and infrastructure.

About the Artist

Artist Shane McDonald with his portrait of President Schwaig in his art studio

Shane McDonald is a Kennesaw State University alumnus (BA in Art, 1992), professional artist, and instructor renowned for his oil and pastel portraits commissioned by patrons throughout the Southeast. 

 

His mastery of classical drawing and painting, coupled with his affinity for contemporary trends, has garnered acclaim throughout metropolitan Atlanta. McDonald’s work has received numerous awards in juried competitions and is featured in the permanent collections of the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, Kennesaw State University, East Carolina University, and the Zuckerman Museum of Art.


McDonald’s fine art landscapes are represented by Robert Kent Gallery in Marietta, Georgia. His figurative and still-life works can also be viewed at his studio and gallery at the Artisan Resource Center, Marietta.
