Adventure Academy offers engaging school-break camps led by our full-time museum education team. Through
hands-on experiences rooted in history and the humanities, campers explore a wide
range of topics that spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Summer Institute for Teaching the Holocaust
The Museum of History and Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University and the Breman present a three-day conference designed to support educators from across the nation in teaching about the Holocaust. Participants engage with scholars, museum educators, and primary sources to explore the historical context of the Holocaust, examine personal stories of those who experienced it, and consider effective classroom strategies for teaching this complex history.

From disappearing cities and legendary artifacts to spies and pirates, campers will crack codes, solve puzzles, and uncover the stories that shaped our world. This week is all about curiosity, problem-solving, and a little historical intrigue.

Theater Camp - Lights on, curtain up! Campers will dive into theater from around the world and across

Buckle up! Time travel awaits! Campers will journey from ancient civilizations to
ye olde 1990s through crafts, costumes, music, games, and stories. Each day brings
a new era to explore as campers discover how people lived, dressed, and had fun throughout

Civil Rights Educator Workshop
The Museum of History and Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University and the
National Center for Civil and Human Rights presents a three-day professional development program designed to help educators from across the nation deepen their understanding of Civil Rights topics and explore effective strategies for teaching this history in the classroom. Through engagement with primary sources, historical scholarship, and museum resources, participants examine key events, individuals, and themes that shaped the struggle for civil rights.

Teacher Ambassador Program in Germany
In June, the 3rd cohort of the Teacher Ambassador Program, will travel to Munich, Nuremberg, and Berlin with Dr. Andrea Miskewicz (MHHE) and Rabbi Joe Prass (The Breman). Teachers from across Georgia have been selected to work with the MHHE and Breman for 18 months as they better prepare to teach the Holocaust in their classrooms and share knowledge with their peers.

Legacy Learning Trip to Montgomery
In July, several alumni of our Civil Rights Educator Workshop will travel to Montgomery to study the civil rights movement in depth. The trip will be led by Dr. Andrea Miskewicz and Dr. Catherine Lewis, alongside museum professionals from across the South, and is supported by the Smithsonian Institution’s Reckoning with Our Racial Past initiative. Participants will visit key sites and engage in conversations that deepen their understanding of how this history continues to shape the present.

Year of UK Book Club - Code Name Verity
Join the discussion on this gripping World War II novel set in the United Kingdom. Explore themes of friendship, courage, and espionage while diving into the rich historical backdrop of Britain during the war. This session of the book club will be facilitated by the Museum of History and Holocaust Education's Outreach Coordinator Katy Matello and Assistant Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies Dr. Lauren Thompson. In addition to the group discussion, participants will enjoy an activity linking aviation groups and pilots featured in MHHE's The Sky's the Limit: Women Pilots in WWII exhibit to groups and characters in the text, as well as an artifact interaction activity also based on text references.

Yom HaShoah Remembrance Event
Join the Museum of History and Holocaust Education and KSU Hillel for a meaningful commemoration of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. This special program will feature powerful stories of Holocaust survivors, honoring their experiences and preserving their memories for future generations.
As part of the program, participants will have time to explore the galleries of the Museum of History and Holocaust Education and reflect on the history, resilience, and legacy of those who lived through the Holocaust. This event offers an opportunity for remembrance, learning, and community as we honor the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.

Black & Jewish America: An Interwoven History Screening and Discussion
Join GPB and Kennesaw State University's Museum of History and Holocaust Education for a screening and panel discussion of Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History.
Following the film, we will engage in a discussion focused on Georgia's special history of Black and Jewish collaboration, resilience, and cultural interconnectedness—and explore how these stories continue to shape our communities today.
