Kennesaw State University is expanding its on-campus housing options for students by opening a new residence hall for the 2026-27 academic year and renovating an existing residential community.

The Summit II, a 462-bed, nearly 97,000-square-foot facility in the heart of the Kennesaw Campus, welcomes its first residents this fall. The addition of Summit II reflects priorities outlined in Kennesaw State’s “Taking Flight” strategic plan to support student engagement and enhance the student experience inside and outside the classroom.

“This new residence hall represents more than a building,” said Chris Bruno, executive director of KSU Housing and Residence Life. “It reflects our continued commitment to student success, community, and creating spaces where Owls can live, learn, and thrive.”

Kennesaw State has now opened two new residence halls in the past four years. The Summit II features common areas, study rooms, and an outdoor courtyard that connects with neighboring The Summit I, which opened in 2022.

Across campus from Summit I and II, the KSU Place residential community is undergoing a complete renovation. The project includes updating the heating-air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, siding, and flooring, installing new furniture, modernizing the kitchens and bathrooms, and making the facility more energy efficient.

Also, a reconfiguration of the rooms will result in 265 additional beds. When KSU Place reopens with a new name in Fall 2027, Kennesaw State will have 6,639 beds for on-campus students across 11 residential communities.

“The renovation to KSU Place enables us to grow our on-campus inventory without building a brand-new building,” Bruno said. “It's going to be a beautiful community.”
