Linking high school students to careers in teaching

Kennesaw State University and Fulton County Schools are proud to introduce a new kind of LINK partnership — one designed to help students begin building their futures as teachers while still in high school.

Through Fulton County Schools’ GO BRIDGE (Building Readiness in Developing Great Educators) initiative, high school students can take advantage of dual enrollment, dedicated advising support, and career planning to create a clear pathway from high school graduation to earning a bachelor’s in teacher education from Kennesaw State.

What are the Benefits of Choosing the Fulton County Schools GO BRIDGE Program?

Participation in this partnership utilizes dual enrollment to accelerate progress toward a KSU bachelor’s degree in teacher education. Unlike traditional LINK partnerships that begin after a student has completed coursework at a college partner, this model starts earlier, giving high school students the opportunity to plan ahead, earn college credit for free,* and begin shaping a direct path to Kennesaw State before they graduate.

Students in Fulton County high schools who enroll in the Teaching as a Profession Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) program can earn college credit for EDUC 2110: Investigating Critical and Contemporary Issues in Education. However, through this partnership, students can earn up to 30 credit hours toward their bachelor’s degree in teaching through the Dual Enrollment program, successfully completing an entire year of coursework toward their college degree.
Participating students will have their KSU application fee waived and must maintain a 2.5 GPA in their coursework.

Benefits include:

  • Free college coursework through the Dual Enrollment Program*
  • Up to a full year of completed coursework in teacher education programs at KSU
  • Dedicated advising for the partnership program, guiding students into their college career
  • Free KSU application
  • Seamless transition process from high school to KSU
  • Option to complete student teaching requirements within Fulton County Schools
  • Priority consideration for a teaching position in Fulton County Schools upon completion of your degree and teacher certification

Your Pathway to a Bachelor’s in Teacher Education

This LINK program provides aspiring educators with a streamlined path to teaching through various specialized degree options. Students can choose from programs in Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, or Secondary Education, each designed to equip future teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in various educational settings.

Additional benefits to the direct teacher education pathway include access to KSU's Teacher Resource and Activity Corner (TRAC) located on the Kennesaw Campus, even while a student at Fulton County Schools. TRAC has these primary service zones:

  • Computer Lab: includes desktop computers, laptops, iPads, headsets with microphones, scanner, copy/print options, and an Oculus Virtual Reality station.
  • Education Library: houses over 30,000 items to support the scholarship and development of teachers, including professional books and DVDs, K-12 textbooks, Infant through Young Adult literature, and a wide array of educational extras like classroom tools, tech-oriented kits, manipulatives, games, models, and more.
  • Maker Workroom: set up with large format printers, laminators, button-makers, binding machines, extra-wide paper trimmers, digital and manual die cut stations, and a Glowforge 3D Laser Printer and Makerbot Replicator 3D printer.

**Please note, a GPA of 2.5 or higher is required for admission into the KSU teacher education programs.
