Kennesaw State students find continued success in Coca-Cola Scholarship program

Prior to enrolling at Kennesaw State University, first-generation student Kamille Suarez-Paulino said there were few people who could offer guidance for her college career. Now a third-year student in The Coca-Cola First Generation and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Scholars program, the economics major wears her first-generation status as a badge of pride. Suarez-Paulino is one of 35 students who have benefited from the program made possible by a $1.25 million donation from The Coca-Cola Foundation.

Kennesaw State Honors student awarded for scholarship and service

On his bedroom walls, KSU Journey Honors College student Robert Connor has a collection of sticky notes with motivational phrases he’s written, including, “You have 1,440. How are you using them?” – in reference to the number of minutes in each day. Connor is making the most of each day as a student and a leader, and accordingly has been recognized as this year’s top student in Kennesaw State University’s President’s Emerging Global Scholars (PEGS) program.

Apple executive, Kennesaw State alum encourages students to aim high

A moment of clarity during an intro-level accounting class nearly 30 years ago started Aaron Gagnon on a journey that has taken the Kennesaw State University alumnus around the globe and led him to become the top internal auditor for Apple, the world’s largest technology company. Gagnon, Apple’s chief audit executive, earned his accounting degree from Kennesaw State in 1994. He returned to campus this week from his home in Austin, Texas to speak with students in the Master of Accounting program about careers in the industry and the role Kennesaw State has played in his success.

'Unstoppable determination' lands accounting student job at top firm

Taron Ragan has faced more than his share of tragedy in his life, but the senior accounting major never let those circumstances stand in his way of working toward his bachelor’s degree at Kennesaw State. Ragan, who will graduate in May, already has a full-time job in hand with Deloitte, a leading national accounting firm, as an audit associate.

To help prepare students for jobs in Georgia’s fast-growing financial technology sector, Kennesaw State University has leveraged its partnership with the Georgia FinTech Academy to launch an academic minor in fintech beginning Fall 2021. This is the first program of its kind in the state.

KSU students help nonprofit take music education global

With many nonprofits facing a financial strain from charitable donations declining during the pandemic, Kennesaw State University students are helping one affected organization launch a new product so that it can weather the storm and continue bringing music education programs to children around the world. International marketing students in Kennesaw State’s Master of Business Administration program recently began collaborating with Amani Project, a nonprofit that works with community organizations in five countries to create free music-making clubs for at-risk children.

Donor to help international students feel at home at KSU

Harry Vardis knows firsthand the value of receiving a college scholarship as an international student, so he is providing that same opportunity to students at Kennesaw State University. Vardis, 79, has committed a seven-figure donation to establish a legacy scholarship fund – the Harry and Athena Vardis Scholarships – which will be given to deserving KSU students, with a focus on students from foreign countries.
