Georgia's 2018 legislative session begins Monday, but lawmakers may have another date circled on their calendars: May 22.
That's the date of the primary for all statewide offices, including members of the Legislature, governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state.
And since state law prohibits members of the General Assembly from raising funds during a legislative session, there is a good chance lawmakers may decide to move along quickly so they can get back to their re-election bids, according to Kerwin Swint, director of the School of Government and International Affairs at Kennesaw State University.
