  • Donor establishes endowment to support Kennesaw State competition teams, Honors students

    Longtime Technical Manager Jim J. Hills has always been a firm believer that competition breeds ingenuity. While studying at the former Southern Technical Institute, now Kennesaw State University, he regularly competed in the college’s famed bathtub races, where he honed his engineering skills building motorized tubs he then raced against his classmates. Now, he and his wife Wanda aim to inspire the next generation of engineers through a $1 million endowment, the largest single gift in the history of KSU’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET), providing support for KSU competition teams and scholarships for engineering students in the University’s Keeping Sights Upward (KSU) Journey Honors College.  –  August 02, 2021

  • Renowned scholar named lead researcher for Kennesaw State's Radow Institute for Social Equity

    Kennesaw State University has appointed renowned scholar Roslyn Satchel to lead the research efforts of the newly created Radow Institute for Social Equity (RISE), effective January 1. Satchel currently is the Blanche E. Seaver Professor of Communication at Pepperdine University and a Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society Fellow at Harvard Law School.  –  July 29, 2021

    Barrett Upton enjoys staying ahead of the game. He arrived at Kennesaw State in 2018 with college credits in hand through a dual enrollment program.   • Kennesaw State graduate leverages research in data analysis to earn postdoctoral fellowship

    Before arriving in the U.S., Mohammad Masum had no real concept of data science. A native of Bangladesh, he came stateside to expand his knowledge but didn’t quite discover his passion for data science until he neared the end of a graduate program in mathematics and statistics. That passion is what ultimately led him to Kennesaw State University, where he will graduate this month with a Ph.D. in Analytics and Data Science.  –  July 28, 2021

  • Kennesaw State student documents cross-country adventure for national contest

    Driven by her free spirit and love of adventure, Kennesaw State student Ally Lothman embarked on the journey of a lifetime at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic when she packed up a renovated work van and traveled the desolate roads, documenting her remarkable journey along the way. Lothman, a senior majoring in journalism and emerging media who will graduate this month, was inspired by the Academy Award-winning film Nomadland, which follows the journey of a woman who travels the country as a van-dwelling nomad. She decided to create her own version of the film and renovate the van owned by her parents, and it earned her national recognition for her creativity.  –  July 27, 2021

  • Kennesaw State accounting graduate takes non-traditional path to success

    Amanda Soriano has not taken the conventional route to earning her bachelor’s degree, but her determination and involvement have helped forge her path to success at Kennesaw State University and beyond. Soriano, a mother of three, is graduating this month from the Michael J. Coles College of Business with a degree in accounting, officially completing her undergraduate studies more than a decade after she graduated from high school.  –  July 26, 2021

  • Local teachers tap into Kennesaw State for cybersecurity instruction

    Faculty members from Kennesaw State University’s College of Computing and Software Engineering and Bagwell College of Education are helping metro Atlanta middle and high school teachers educate their students about cybersecurity. Through a grant they received from the GenCyber program, assistant professors of information technology Shirley Tian and Zhigang Li and assistant professor of instructional technology Yi Jin have been leading a cybersecurity education camp for the past two weeks.  –  July 23, 2021
