Supporting Future Middle School Scholars

The Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Georgia program is a state-wide initiative that financially supports the preparation of potential scholars beginning at the middle school level. Coordinators continue to mentor REACH Georgia scholars throughout their high school tenure and assist them as they begin to identify their post-secondary school of choice at which they are awarded a $10,000 scholarship to assist with college cost of attendance. REACH Georgia is grateful for the support of their partners in higher education in helping their scholars with a smooth transition into college and assisting them with their educational goals.

As a campus partner, the department of Academic Coaching and Support provides the following academic support services and co-curricular programming that enhances the success of REACH Georgia scholars:

  • Summer program orientation
  • A state-of-the-art private study lounge
  • Peer mentors
  • An assigned Graduation Coach who will provide individualized, tailored support for academic success and future goal setting, to assist in students’ preparation for degree completion
  • Recognition/regalia for graduation

Additionally, Academic Coaching and Support collaborates with campus partners and the program’s stakeholders to ensure the persistence of REACH Georgia scholars pursuing their undergraduate degree at Kennesaw State University.

Matching Funds Scholarship

Effective academic year 2021-2022, the REACH Georgia matching scholarship opportunity available at KSU will be determined on a per semester basis. An application process overseen by the Academic Coaching and Support department will decide the disbursement of these potential matching scholarship funds. Please contact Nigel Richards(nricha26@kennesaw.edu) for further questions about this opportunity for our current eligible scholars.

REACH Georgia Peer Leaders

  • Elizabeth
My name is Elizabeth Romero. I’m a senior majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources. I wanted to be a peer leader because I know how meaningful it is to have someone you can turn to for support and guidance. I want to create the same safe and encouraging space for others that my mentors have done for me. To me, leadership means listening first, supporting growth, and fostering a sense of community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
  • Jabari
My name is  Jabari. I'm a software engineering major at KSU, entering my junior year. Some of my hobbies include gaming, basketball, and collecting CDs, vinyl records, and cassette tapes. I became a peer leader to help people adjust to college life and take advantage of the opportunities KSU provides for them.
  • Brisa
Being a peer leader as a first-generation student is both a challenge and a privilege. I understand firsthand the confusion and uncertainty that can come with navigating college without family guidance. This experience allows me to empathize deeply with others who may feel lost or overwhelmed, and I strive to be the kind of resource I wish I had when I first started.
  • Patrick
I wanted to become a Reach GA Ambassador because I believe in the power of support, connection, and shared experience. I've seen how much of a difference it makes when someone feels heard, encouraged, and understood—especially by someone who’s walked a similar path. Being a peer leader means having the opportunity to provide support for others, listen actively, and help create a safe space where people feel confident in their growth.
