Join us for our Choral Invitational on February 8, 2024! 

Your experience will include:  

  • Performance on stage in Morgan Concert Hall in the Bailey Performance Center
  • Clinic with KSU Choral faculty, Erika Tazawa and Dominique Petite
  • Assessments of your ensemble by via audio caption and written feedback
  • "Conductor Cam" video recording
  • High-quality audio and video recordings of the performance
  • In addition, your group can listen to live performances mid-day from the KSU Chamber Singers and have opportunities to hear other high school ensembles from around the region.

How to Register

The KSU Choral Invitational is open to high school ensembles. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please click here to register!

Accepted ensembles will receive an invitation letter, which will include confirmation of warm-up and performance times and an invoice for the participation fee. The fee is $100.00 for each participating choir and is due by February 1, 2024. Payment details will be included in the invoice.

Clinicians

  • erika tazawa

    Erika Tazawa is the assistant director of choral activities at Kennesaw State University, where she conducts the Chamber Singers, Chorale, and Men’s Ensemble. Tazawa is a doctoral candidate in choral conducting at the University of Georgia and, prior to her appointment at KSU, she served on faculty at Emory University.

    Tazawa enjoys a versatile and collaborative musical career, actively performing as a conductor, pianist, vocal coach, and guest clinician. She is a core member of the contemporary music ensemble Bent Frequency, has served on musical staff at The Atlanta Opera and American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and is conducting the choir for Georgia Philharmonic this season.   

     

  • dominique petite

    Dominique Petite is the assistant professor of choral music education at Kennesaw State University, where she teaches courses in music education and choral pedagogy, conducts the Treble Choir, and supervises student teachers. Petite has a DMA in choral conducting from Louisiana State University. She earned a BME and MME in choral music education from Florida State University.

    Dr. Petite has maintained an active performance schedule, including singing in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) Chorus and ASO Chamber Chorus and solo work as a blues and acoustic rock artist in the Atlanta area. She currently performs with Coro Vocati (Atlanta) and Red Shift (Baton Rouge). Dr. Petite is a member of ACDA, NCCO, NAfME, and CMS.
