Hailed by The New York Times for having “broken the boundaries of what string quartets do,” Kronos Quartet—David Harrington (violin), Gabriela Díaz (violin), Ayane Kozasa (viola), and Paul Wiancko (cello)—has continually reshaped the possibilities of the string quartet. Over its 50-year history, the ensemble has commissioned more than 1,100 works, released more than 70 recordings, and forged deep artistic partnerships with composers and performers around the world.

Returning to her home state for this performance, violinist Gabriela Díaz expressed her excitement, noting that she is “thrilled to be coming back to Georgia to perform with the Kronos Quartet at Kennesaw State.” She shared that the ensemble will present a vibrant and wide-ranging program that reflects their collective passions and long-standing artistic relationships. Díaz added that she looks forward to introducing her fellow quartet members to “plenty of sweet tea and Southern delicacies” during their visit.

The performance also marks a meaningful moment for the Bailey School of Music. “Kronos Quartet has inspired musicians around the world for five decades, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Bailey Performance Center at KSU. This performance is an extraordinary opportunity for our students, faculty, and audiences to engage with one of the most visionary ensembles of our time,” said Dr. Nathan Nabb, director of the Bailey School of Music.

With a legacy that includes three Grammy Awards, the prestigious Polar Music Prize, and an educational library used by musicians in more than 100 countries, Kronos continues to shape contemporary chamber music with curiosity, social awareness, and artistic courage. Their visit to Kennesaw State offers audiences a rare chance to experience an ensemble whose work has resonated across cultures and generations.
