Family-friendly Spring Arts Festival at Kennesaw State University

Kennesaw State University’s School of Art and Design will present its annual family-friendly Spring Arts Festival on Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free Festival features activities for all ages and interests at Chastain Pointe Studios, across from the main campus in Kennesaw.

KSU Dance Selects Two Eleo Pomare-Glenn Conner Choreographers for Summer 2023

Kennesaw State University Department of Dance has selected two international choreographers for the Eleo Pomare-Glenn Conner Choreographic Residency in summer 2023. The Residency brings two curated choreographers each summer to KSU Dance to create an original work together with Dance alumni and students, made possible by an endowment from Jay and Debra Yunek.

Kennesaw State Bailey School of Music to Celebrate Black History Month with Music

Kennesaw State University Bailey School of Music will celebrate Black History Month with a festival of five concerts, beginning Feb. 17 and running through Feb. 25. “Moving Forward, Together” features a myriad of creative talent, including choral, jazz, orchestra, gospel, and even an interdisciplinary production.

Kennesaw State Department of Theatre and Performance Studies to present "Love and Information"

Kennesaw State University Department of Theatre and Performance Studies will present Caryl Churchill’s “Love and Information” Feb. 21-26 in the Onyx Theatre on the Kennesaw campus. Directed by Emily Kitchens, this fascinating kaleidoscope of 57 short plays examines 100 characters who try to find true human connection and make sense of what they know—and what they don’t know.

Kennesaw State University's Bailey School of Music to present Collage Concert

Kennesaw State University’s Bailey School of Music will present the annual Collage Concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Led by Interim Director Dr. Julia Bullard, the Bailey School of Music will present the signature production for the 17th year in a row as the sole fundraising concert for music scholarships for students. The Concert offers something for all musical tastes, from symphony orchestra to jazz, opera theater, and even video game music.

Kennesaw State University Department of Dance will welcome New York-based company Boca Tuya presenting “Amor” Jan. 27-28 at the KSU Dance Theater on the Marietta campus at 8 p.m. Led by acclaimed choreographer Omar Román de Jesús, “Amor” features breathtaking movement vocabulary, drama, fantasy, and humor, all derived by events and practices tracked back to personal and collective experiences.

Kennesaw State Bailey School of Music to host Anthony McGill and the Pacifica Quartet

Kennesaw State University’s Bailey School of Music (BSOM) will host clarinetist Anthony McGill and the Pacifica Quartet on Friday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. Hailed for his “trademark brilliance, penetrating sound and rich character” (New York Times), clarinetist Anthony McGill enjoys a dynamic international solo and chamber music career and is principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic—the first African American principal player in the organization's history. He is the recipient of the 2020 Avery Fisher Prize, one of classical music’s most significant awards.

Kennesaw State's Percussion Students, Alumni Hitting It Right in Marketplace

Drummers sometimes get a bad rap—a perception of smoky bars, wild parties, and late, late nights. But Percussion students in the Bailey School of Music (BSOM) at Kennesaw State University, led by John Lawless, would dispel those stereotypes. These percussionists often have a vision early in their academic careers, and by the time they graduate, many have fully carved out—and realized—their career paths. Alumna Katelyn Rose King is a good example. As an undergraduate percussion major at KSU, “Katelyn laid out exactly what she wanted to do. She knew she had to get additional degrees and do her type of music in Europe. Now, she is pursuing her doctorate degree and lives in Vienna, Austria, doing contemporary music in one of the world’s best concert halls. She often goes to Germany—and beyond—to play her music,” explains Lawless, Director of Percussion Studies and Senior Lecturer.

Kennesaw State University College of the Arts to offer Summer Arts Intensives

Kennesaw State University College of the Arts is offering high school students and rising college freshmen an opportunity to experience the arts on a collegiate level this summer. Students may choose from acting, dance, design tech, music, musical theatre, or visual arts, including a new fashion and textile intensive. The Summer Arts Intensives will be offered June 5-9, except for two half-day programs, May 31-June 2, in the Bailey School of Music. For the first time, students in many intensives will have the option of staying in a residence hall on the Kennesaw campus. Students are encouraged to register early as space is limited, especially for the overnight option; registration opens Dec. 20, 2022.
