Thesis Students Receive URCA Funding to Attend ARCC2019

The Department of Architecture would like to congratulate three of our amazing thesis students, Dyesha Holmes, Corey Jones, and Brittany Adkins, for receiving an Undergraduate Research Creative Activities (URCA) funding award to attend the Architectural Research Centers Consortium Conference (ARCC2019) in Toronto, Canada (43% acceptance rate).

  • Brittany Akins, Sensorial Architecture: Design for Well-Being (advisor: Tim Frank)
  • Dyesha Holmes, Reframing Urban Redevelopment Via Women Empowerment: Sustaining Existing Community in the West End Neighborhood (advisor: Miné Hashas-Degertekin)
  • Corey Jones, Mixed Reality’s Ability To Craft And Establish An Experience Of Space (advisor: Bronne Dytoc)

Two additional KSU Architecture students also presented their thesis research during a poster session at the ARCC2019 Conference: Future Praxis: Applied Research as a Bridge Between Theory and Practice:

  • Joshua Robinson, Community-based Healthcare (advisor: Pegah Zamani)
  • Jeremy Bowen, Skater Conscious: Extending Urban Architecture (advisor: Jeffrey Collins)

Thesis coordinator, Liz Martin-Malikian, lead the effort and mentored the students on their URCA award. She also gave a paper at the conference and chaired a session.
