CACM Research

CACM’s research focuses on the built and natural environments, exploring the intersection of building science, architectural practice, and human interaction with the spaces we create. We are dedicated to understanding how people engage with the built environment and how our designs can enhance quality of life, community well-being, and environmental stewardship.

From sustainable design to energy-efficient technologies and innovative construction methods, our work encompasses a wide range of topics within four Focus Areas.

Student Testimonial

Chelsea Cowan brought years of hands-on experience in construction project management with the Department of Defense—but she wanted to take her expertise to the next level. Through KSU’s Construction Project Management Certificate, she found the structure, flexibility, and professional insight she needed to formalize her skills and advance her career.

“The course helped me deepen my understanding of blueprints and specs, and the instructors brought diverse, real-world perspectives,” Chelsea shared. “Our class was a mix of professionals from different backgrounds, which made the learning experience even richer.”

Today, Chelsea is continuing to grow in her role managing renovation contracts for the National Guard—now with greater confidence and a stronger foundation thanks to her time at KSU.
