Submit Proposals for 2025 SoTL Conference

We invite you to submit your proposal for the 2025 SoTL Summit virtual conference! Proposals can focus on SoTL projects or Scholarly Teaching topics, in a virtual live session or virtual poster format. We will use ISSOTL's Grand Challenges for SoTL to categorize proposals. As you plan your proposal, please read more about the Grand Challenges and decide where your proposal best fits.

All proposals should focus on teaching and/or student learning in higher education and should address how pedagogy developed in the context of one discipline can be adapted to other disciplines. Only proposals aimed at higher education audiences are eligible for this conference.  

We use Oxford Abstracts for proposal submission and review. When you click to submit your proposal, you will be asked to log in or create an account in Oxford Abstracts before proceeding. 

If you are the primary author on a submission, please be available to respond to emails regarding your proposal during the months of June and July.

SoTL Sessions

SoTL Sessions are 20-minute sessions appropriate for sharing the findings of inquiry-based SoTL studies. SoTL Sessions should clearly adhere to good practices of SoTL (Felten, 2013). We welcome methodological approaches from all disciplines. Studies can be multidisciplinary or focus on a single discipline; those that focus on a single discipline should include ways the findings can be adapted to other disciplinary contexts.

Scholarly Teaching Sessions 

Scholarly Teaching Sessions provide presenters a chance to share innovative teaching ideas or classroom experiences that are grounded in reflective practice and/or the literature on teaching and learning. Grouped with other similar sessions, these 10-minute “lightning talks” will allow attendees to gain a variety of new ideas that they can immediately implement in their classrooms. This format is ideal for those who have a great teaching idea to share that has not been subjected to more formal inquiry.

SoTL Posters

SoTL Posters allow presenters to share their findings from inquiry-based SoTL studies in a visual format without live interaction.  Poster presentations will include a one-page static visual display (created as a slide in PowerPoint or similar program and saved as a PDF) and a brief YouTube or Vimeo video (less than five minutes in duration) explaining the poster. Review guidelines for SoTL posters are the same as those for SoTL Sessions.
