Students in the HMI program can submit for reimbursement for certificates that they
obtain while a student in the program. Examples of certificates that our students
have taken in the past are listed below, but you are not limited to any of these listed.
We encourage you to do your own search and please feel free to list others that are
not on here.
Reimbursement Information and Process:
When you plan to obtain a certificate, please read through this page carefully and don’t hesitate to let any of the HMI staff know if you have any questions. Once you choose a certificate, you will fill out the form below and you will receive a confirmation of whether or not we will reimburse the specific certification that you have chosen. Once you have confirmation, you will receive a request for personal information in order to be entered as a vendor into our system. This makes the reimbursement process seamless. After you obtain the certificate, you will email Millena Da Silva at mdasilv2@kennesaw.edu or Tonya Clark tclar121@kennesaw.edu with the:

Any additional justification and information that is requested for reimbursement.
American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA)
The HMI program partners with AMIA to offer our students the opportunity to obtain
AHIC study materials and certification, completely paid for by the program! Through
a rigorous selection process, we partner with AMIA to choose from a pool of our students
for this opportunity.
American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA®) -This certification provides practitioners with the knowledge to acquire, manage, analyze, interpret, and transform data into accurate, consistent, and timely information, while balancing the “big picture” strategic vision with day-to-day insights and details. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT®) - Certified professionals work in hospitals, but are also found in other healthcare setting including office-based physician practices, nursing homes, home health agencies, mental health facilities, and public health agencies. RHITs may also be employed in any organization that uses patient data or health information, such as pharmaceutical companies, law and insurance firms, and health product vendors.
