Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University offers ACS-accredited degree programs in chemistry and biochemistry in addition to concentrations in forensic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and chemistry education.

We have a bright and energetic faculty and a dedicated, helpful professional staff who are all available to assist our students as they grow and mature as scientists. The faculty members have research interests that span all of the typical subdisciplines of chemistry: analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry.

Undergraduate research is a critical component of our student's preparation and training, and all of our faculty members engage in undergraduate research. Additionally, we actively pursue internships and external undergraduate research opportunities for our students.

Our Department also has a significant focus on chemistry education and teacher training; one of our main goals is to work with KSU's Bagwell College of Education to prepare high school chemistry teachers who are effective and engaging educators in the classroom, providing them with the tools and support to help them succeed.

Our Department has experienced extraordinary growth in the last few years, growing from 79 majors in chemistry and biochemistry in the Fall of 1998 semester to 600+ majors in the Fall of 2015.
