Library Collections

The three facilities of the Kennesaw State University Library System house a robust collection including print and electronic books, periodicals, maps, government documents, and audio-visual materials. The Horace W. Sturgis Library and the Lawrence V. Johnson Library grant researchers access to more than 200,000 e-resources and more than 300 database subscriptions.

The majority of the general print collection available for check-out is housed on the 2nd floor of the Sturgis Library and on the 2nd floor of the Johnson Library. 

Our Teen Literature Collection, located on the 3rd floor of Sturgis Library, hosts a number of books under the young adult (YA) distinction.

As a selective Federal Depository since 1968, the KSU Library System offers a wide array of documents published by the largest publisher in the country -- The Government Publishing Office (GPO) in Washington, DC.

Our government documents collection on the 2nd floor of the Johnson Library. Most government documents can be checked out.

Archives

The KSU Archives collects unique and rare materials relating to the history of KSU, SPSU, and the northwest region of Georgia. These materials are available to the public for research Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Research is by appointment only.

Bentley Rare Book Museum

The Bentley Rare Book Museum has a collection of approximately 10,000 pieces illustrating the diversity of the written and printed word in the English-speaking world. The Museum is located on the ground floor of Sturgis Library. Please visit the Bentley Rare Book Museum website for more information.

The Library Repository is an off-site storage facility where older publications are housed. Although the Repository can be accessed by Library employees only, the materials stored there may be requested by patrons using our online request form in the library catalog. The Library’s FAQ database offers information on how to request an item from the Repository. 

Working closely with faculty and students within their assigned academic departments and programs, the KSU Librarians play a vital role in the development of the collections to support the scholarly needs of our community.
